HeaRing
Completed - SP 2024
objectives
Many long time wearers have noticed many issues with the current state of hearing aids and the accessories that come with them. The goal of heaRing and heaRing Case is to bring a new, updated, and subtle look and feel to hearing aids to appeal to a wider set of audiences.
Personal Statement
At seven years old, I was diagnosed with Congenital hearing loss, meaning hearing loss that is present at birth. Due to the severity, I was given hearing aids, making me a hearing aid wearer for about fourteen years as of today. Through out my childhood, I have gone through my fair share of doctors appointments, equipment, etc., and it has given the opportunity to really see myself the pros and cons of each type of hearing aid, as well as all the accessories that come with it. One of the biggest issues (in my opinion) being the look while wearing them, the prices, the abundance of accessories, and outdated technology. I hope to one day use my own experience to help improve hearing aids, especially those like me who have spent most of their lives wearing them.
Research
Hearing aids are small electronic devices that amplify sounds and deliver them to your ear. They help people with hearing loss improve hearing and speech comprehension so they can participate more fully in daily life.
Each type that’s right for you depends on a number of factors:
the severity of hearing loss, size
shape of your ear
personal preferences,
ease of handling and new hearing aid technologies
There are three main types of hearing aids:
Behind-the-Ear
(BTE)
In-the-Ear
(ITE)
In-the-Canal
(ITC)
